Should an advisor be written in the articles of a startup?

No the terms of your relationship do not have to be contained within the articles of incorporation. You can detail the arrangement in an advisor agreement; this is a legal document that briefly outlines the advisor’s commitment to your startups and allocates an amount of equity to him / her. I would refrain from bringing up this agreement when you first meet the advisor, as they are often reluctant to sign an agreement in the very beginning. It’s smart to get a know each other a bit before entering into a legal agreement.
