Has a patent application ever been denied because the patent idea was too silly?

lawtrades services intellectual property

To deny a patent application based on the grounds that it is “too silly” would likely lead to many, many products never making it in the market. I think we can all agree that we’ve ran across a few “silly” inventions in our life, but the application process isn’t about determining if the invention is frivolous or not.

However, this also means that just because something has a patent, doesn’t mean that it’ll bode well in the market. If the population at large doesn’t see the value of your invention, then you’ll just not make any sales.

If you’re curious if your product can get a patent, then I’d like to invite you to read my thorough Patentability Guide: Can Your Invention Be Patented?

You’ll quickly learn that obtaining a patent requires many steps. To help you through this process, you should consider hiring a patent attorney. LawTrades may be able to help. Check us out and get in touch to schedule your first consutlation.

Hope this helps!
