While finding the most affordable immigration lawyer may be quite difficult since lawyers don’t openly list their prices, services likeallow you to describe your legal situation and immediately receive custom price quotes. From there, you can compare prices and hire the best one within your budget. Pretty simple right?
But regardless of whether you use that resource or not, here’s some points that can be considered attributes to finding the perfect immigration lawyer that works with startups:
- A highly efficient $300/hour lawyer will end up costing less than a $150/hour inefficient lawyer.
- Remember, you hire a person, not a firm. You may retain the finest firm in the land but every firm has great lawyers, good lawyers and some that are neither. You only get the lawyer you hire.
- It’s important to understand your lawyer’s fee structure. Hourly rates continue to be the most common way to bill and are still the best measure for certain types of matters. But clients should also explore alternatives such as fixed, capped, contingent, hybrid and premium-based fee arrangements.

Lastly, be careful with hiring overseas legal professionals. Although they might do your work for significantly cheaper, most are NOT licensed attorneys (passed the bar exam to practice in the US) and therefore, if they screw up your startups legal stuff, you’re pretty much on your own!
