Provisional patents are interesting because they are the “to be continued” in the intellectual property world. Basically, a provisional patent allows you to file the intent to file a true patent later on. There is a benefit to filing provisional patents. Mostly, the advantage is that you can add “patent pending” to your product, which may help investors take a closer look at you.
