What expenses should a startup in its early stages absolutely not avoid?

Certainly, there are people who know more than you. Invest in them.

Do not be afraid to hire professional like lawyers. Do not be misguided into believing that hiring experts is equivalent to throwing your money out the window.

 This simply isn’t the case.

Yes, I understand you need to be frugal. And you should be frugal.

But, know that there is a difference in being money savvy and just poor planning.

You have to accept the fact that nobody is good at everything, though there may be many things that you are good at. So if you don’t have any background in business law, then there’s a pretty decent probability that you are going to miss something along the way.

Sure, some of it you can learn along the way, but consider the kind of time and energy that will take away from the things you could be doing to help your business grow.

Not to mention the cost of mistakes you may make. Maybe it won’t be a big deal, but what if it is? Ask yourself if it’s worth the gamble. There’s enough folks out there who have a DIY legal team, but know that they are the exception, not the rule. More often than not, it doesn’t work out the way you envisioned.

Cost is a thing. I agree. But, there are affordable options out there. For example,my company LawTrades was designed with affordability in mind. Usually, attorneys cost mega bucks because of their insane overhead. We wanted to change that. So we developed a marketplace of freelance attorneys. Since they work for themselves, they can offer more direct communication and cost much, much less. Check out our website and get in touch if you think we can help.
