Nope. There is no such database. However, I will echo that you need to send out a W-9 to the vendors in order to obtain their tax identification number for your tracking purposes. It’s something you’ll want to do sooner rather than later because vendors aren’t likely to provide such information once you no longer work together. They may not even feel comfortable providing it period other than through the appropriate form. The W-9 not only indicates appropriate tax identification numbers, but is required for reporting the following information to the IRS:
- Income paid to you
- Real estate transactions
- Mortgage interest you paid
- Acquisition or abandonment of secured property
- Cancellation of debt
- Contributions you made to an IRA
You may see that there is a benefit of the form outside of just getting the tax number.
