While you are off to a great start with raising money—you will likely hit a roadblock with donors if you don’t register sooner rather than later. As a 501 you qualify for tax exempt status on the federal level—that’s pretty substantial. Plus, as you’ve indicated, grants will be harder to obtain without the appropriate status.
