My answer to Is there a way to hide your identity as a member of an LLC in public business registry?
Answer by Raad Ahmed:
If litigation occurs, then you may be required to admit your identity. However, you can certainly create layers that will make it difficult for people to obtain that information just on a “want to know” basis. Here are a few things you could do:
- You could create a trust then allow the third-party trustee to establish the LLC. Their name would be the one linked to the business.
- You can establish your LLC in one state which is then owned by an LLC in a another state which is then owned by an LLC in another state and so on.
If you want to add layers to your business in order to avoid easy-access to your identity then a business attorney can help.
