Legal Documents: Is it a good idea to write my own Terms of Service for my website?

No, it’s not a good idea.

There are online templates, sure. But, you have to remember that it’s HIGHLY likely that your website needs specific terms that aren’t going to be found in cookie-cutter templates. You could take a look at a few and get an idea of what you want to include, but you should definitely save the final draft for an attorney. It’s not worth the risk of leaving something critical out of it. If you ever get caught up in some legal trouble, you will be kicking yourself for not investing in an attorney from the very start.
