Is there any point to a registered agent in your own state if you have to be listed as a member anyway?

Good question. The ability for members to retain anonymity is a big reason individuals form their business as a limited liability company (LLC). But, as you pointed out members of LLCs in Texas don’t have the ability to stay anonymous.

It may still be beneficial for you to use a registered agent. This is especially true for LLCs who aren’t great at administrative tasks, as an agent will help you keep things in order. A registered agent will take care of all communications between your company and the State of Texas. They’re helpful if you’re company doesn’t really have a principal place of business or is changing locations often.
