How do I transfer IP ownership between two of my LLC’s?

You need an Intellectual Property (IP) Assignment Agreement. This type of contract allows an LLC to transfer its property rights in trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, or other IP to another LLC. IP assignment agreements provide a durable record of ownership and transfer, as well as protect the rights of all parties.

It’s important to ensure you own the property you’re assigning. If, for example, a contractor completed the work without signing a similar IP Assignment Agreement beforehand, your LLC may not own the IP. There are other things to consider before executing the agreement, and an attorney is the best person to point them out to you.

Feel free to visit LawTrades to have a skilled IP attorney draft an IP assignment agreement for your LLC. You can also message me w/ any other IP or LLC questions!
